In 2022, American video streaming company Netflix released Sonic Prime, an animated series exclusive to their service. This would be the first Sonic animated series not to either be directly connected to a video game or adapt one since 1999’s Sonic Underground.
Netflix released the entirety of the first season on the same day, a trend which would continue for subsequent seasons. This followed their “binge watch” service model, which had made or broken a number of long-running series in years past. That Sonic Prime was very soon renewed for a second run of episodes spoke highly to the popularity of the series among Sonic fans and general cartoon viewers on the service.
The series sees Sonic and his friends travel through a multiverse, meeting alternate reality versions of themselves. Admittedly, this premise isn’t stretched quite as far as perhaps it could be but, if nothing else, it allows Prime to have a unique identity at the side of other Sonic continuities.
The following table lists each Sonic Prime episode in order of their original airdate.
